TeaHaus has poured tea on Fourth Ave since 2007. Owner Lisa McDonald spent 14 years living in Germany and Sweden, and she missed the quality loose tea that any European village takes for granted. She came home, trained as a tea sommelier, and built a shop where a cup of tea comes with your full attention. There is no wifi. You sit, you sip, you talk to the person across the table.
Pick from more than 175 loose teas, order a tea cocktail, or split a French macaron with a friend. At the door, you check your phone into an antique file cabinet by the register. McDonald added that rule during a 2022 renovation, and now the tables fill with puzzles, books, and conversation instead of screens.
When the Full English Tea returns this fall, book a table for finger sandwiches and scones, and settle in. Nobody rushes you out.
Find TeaHaus at 200-204 N. Fourth Ave, in the corner space that used to be Ann Arbor Running Co. Hours run Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., closed Monday. Call 734-622-0460 to book a table. Insider tip, weekday afternoons are the quiet window before the after-work crowd shows up.
