You know how buying baby gear online means guessing and hoping it works out? The Little Seedling fixes that. It is the independent baby shop on West Stadium where real people help you pick the right car seat, stroller, and pretty much everything else a little kid needs.
Molly Ging started this store in her own basement. She is a University of Michigan chemical engineering grad, and folks around town call her "The Diaper Lady." Back then, she sold cloth diapers under the name Tree City Diapers. Over the years, it grew into a full baby store with strollers, car seats, clothes, toys, and books.
Here is what makes it worth the trip. Three of the staff are certified car seat techs. They help you choose the right seat and show you how to put it in. The shop also runs a separate stroller and nursery showroom close by, with almost 50 stroller models set up to push, fold, and compare. You book that visit ahead of time, and a team member walks you through how each one works. You cannot get that from a search bar.
Find them at 2465 W. Stadium Blvd. in Westgate Shopping Center, in the old Learning Express spot. The store closes on Mondays. It opens Tuesday through Saturday from 10 to 6, plus Sunday 11:00 am - 4:00 pm. The stroller showroom runs by appointment, which you can book through the shop. Call 734-418-2392 or shop online at thelittleseedling.com. Insider tip: go on a slower weekday morning, when the staff has time to walk you through a car seat install start to finish.
Got a baby on the way or a registry to build? This is your spot. Buy your gear online, and the help ends at checkout. Buy it from The Little Seedling, and you get a partner for life, one that keeps showing up as your kid grows and your needs change.
