🏡 Free Home Energy Assessments: Last week, Ann Arbor launched the A2ZERO Home Energy Advisor (HEA) program - a program offering all residents free assessments to evaluate and enhance the energy efficiency, health, and safety of their homes. In addition to the free report, HEA offers residents advice regarding project selection, contractor connections, bid reviews, available rebates, incentives, and financing to help fund identified improvements. The program is available for all Ann Arbor homeowners and renters. Here’s a link to the HEA program page.

⚽️ AFC Ann Arbor: Last week, the men’s and women’s AFC Ann Arbor teams kicked off the start of their 2024 season. On Saturday, the men’s team defeated Union Macomb 4-1 and on Sunday, the women’s team tied Kalamazoo FC 1-1. For any locals hoping to support the Mighty Oaks, Pioneer High School’s Holloway Field is both teams’ home field and here is an Instagram link to the season schedules.

📈 Economic Outlook: According to the 2024-2026 Washtenaw County Economic Outlook, Washtenaw County's economy is set to grow faster than Michigan's through 2026. Washtenaw County’s job growth is expected to reach 3.7% above pre-pandemic levels by 2026, while the state is predicted to reach 2.4% above pre-pandemic levels by 2026. The report also highlights the county’s slow wage growth and insufficient housing as challenges that could hinder future growth.

🪧 Family Fare Housing: In Midland, Michigan, contractors at a Family Fare grocery store discovered a 34-year-old woman had been living inside the store's rooftop sign for almost a year. The woman had set up a small living space furnished with flooring, a mini desk, a printer, a computer, a coffee machine, food, and clothing. She was only discovered because contractors noticed the extension chord she was running into the sign from an outlet on the roof. Family Fare has decided not to press charges on the woman.

🏀 The Unlucky Pistons: Despite having the worst record in the NBA (and therefore the highest odds at securing the 1st overall draft pick - 14%), the Pistons lost yesterday’s lottery and will pick 5th in the upcoming NBA draft. The Atlanta Hawks secured the coveted 1st overall draft pick despite having 22 more wins than the Pistons (36-46 vs. 14-68). Shucks.

🦚 Metro Detroit Peacock: Last week, a peacock escaped from the Detroit Zoo and took a hot girl walk through a neighborhood in Oak Park. The zoo issued a statement confirming the peacock was theirs and that it had been returned to the zoo.
