🎨 Art Fair Week: Buckle up, it’s Art Fair Week. Get ready for three days of art exhibits from nearly 1,000 artists spread out across 30+ blocks of downtown Ann Arbor. The show runs Thursday, Friday and Saturday and is expected to bring in almost half a million attendees (for reference, the city’s population is 120,000 and the Big House holds 107,000 people).
If you’re a first-timer, here’s a helpful map and here’s a list of tips for the show. Happy Art Fair week!

TreeTown Murals
👩🎨 New Mural Watch: Speaking of art, last week City Council approved TreeTown Murals proposal to paint the train overpass on North Main Street. The project is part of TreeTown Murals larger “Murals That Bridge” campaign which painted the Huron Street train overpass last summer. The team hopes to start working on the Main Street mural later this summer.

🏗️ More Kerrytown Condos: Last week City Council unanimously approved developers plans to convert the commercial property at 303 Detroit Street into 16 for-sale condos. The building will mirror the luxury condos being constructed across the street at 330 Detroit Street. No construction timelines have been announced.

🌊 Bridge Work: The Foster Bridge (this author’s favorite AA bridge) has been shut down since early June when a boater spotted a snapped tension cable on the 150-year-old bridge. Engineers are spending up to 30 days re-rating the bridge and weighing fixes, which could include removing the tension system and reopening with a lower weight limit. Until then residents north of Huron River have to take a 15-minute detour to cross the river.

Sonic Lunch
🎸 Sonic Lunch: Due to the Art Fair, there’s no Sonic Lunch concert this week. We are officially at the halfway point for the 12 show concert series. Here are the remaining 6 musical guests:
7/24: The Record Company
7/31: Phillip Phillips
8/21: Neal Francis
8/28: Jr Jr
