🥪 A New Market Is Coming to South Main
Sage's Grocery signed a lease at The Point, the apartment building on the corner of Main and Madison, a few doors down from Washtenaw Dairy. It will be part specialty grocery, part coffee and sandwich shop, with a window bar to sit and eat. Owner Brian Lee is Italian Korean, and the menu will show it. "There will be a mix of Italian and Asian-style sandwiches, salads and more," he said. He named the place after his son. Look for it this winter. Sage’s Grocery

The Most Expensive Artworks in the World are Often Sold Behind Closed Doors. Here's What’s Happening.
Last year, a Van Gogh painting reportedly sold for $200 million. A Rothko for $195 million. A Frida Kahlo for $150 million. None of these transactions are in auction records or any public database.
For years, top auction houses like Sotheby’s and Christie’s have been quietly running invitation-only private auctions for their wealthiest clients.
These huge transactions don't happen in a vacuum. This invisible market often influences the asking range for comparable works in the larger art market.
That said, you don't need an invite to a private auction. Masterworks lets you invest in shares of blue-chip artwork. Their track record to-date:
$1.3B deployed across 525+ artworks by 70,000 members
29 sales to date
Net annualized returns like 16.5%, 17.6%, and 17.8%, not including those unsold*

The Grateful Dead performed at West Park in Ann Arbor in 1967.
🎭 The West Park Bandshell's Last Encore
On a hot Sunday in August 1967, a young Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead played a free show at the West Park bandshell, and the stage has hosted orchestras, theater, and rock ever since. Now the city plans to tear down the 1938 structure by year's end: it sits in a floodway, its foundation is crumbling, and a fix would top $2 million. The good news? The city is reimagining West Park, and a new stage could be part of the plan. MLive

🏠 114 Affordable Apartments Coming to the South Side
The Ann Arbor Housing Commission is buying Avia Lofts at 800 Victors Way and converting all 114 units into affordable housing, a move City Council backed 10-0. The building started life as a hotel in 1984, and current renters over the income limits get to stay. To pull it off, the commission is using a financing tool brand new to Michigan, one director Jennifer Hall says could become a model for other communities to follow. WEMU
