🏙️ Mayor Taylor: Last week, Mayor Christopher Taylor announced he would seek reelection in 2026, but noted it would be his last term. First elected in 2014, Taylor will be Ann Arbor’s longest-serving mayor if he is re-elected next year. In his announcement, Taylor cited ongoing city projects involving climate goals, housing development, safety, and infrastructure. He said he hopes to finish work already underway during this final term.

🍂 City Rebates: Last week the city of Ann Arbor launched a new rebate program that would cover 100% of the cost of a new rake and 50% of the cost of a new electric leaf blower (when you exchange a gas-powered leaf blower). The program is part of the city’s A2ZERO carbon-neutrality plan and aims to reduce noise and emissions from gas-powered equipment. Rebates are available on a first-come, first-served basis while funding lasts.

🏠️ House Relocation: Last week, U of M relocated Raoul Wallenberg’s onetime Ann Arbor residence from E. Madison Street to S. Division Street. The 19th-century house will sit beside playwright Arthur Miller’s former student home, creating a paired historic site. Wallenberg, a student at U of M from 1931 - 1935, is a WWII war hero who saved an estimated 70,000 people during the Holocaust. Here’s a video of the move.
