👩‍🍳 New Bakery and Market: Q Bakehouse, a new Asian American bakery and market has opened at 1608 Jackson Ave (right after the split, behind the old Marathon). Specializing in small-batch pastries, cakes, frozen dumplings, seasonings, and chili crisps, everything at Q Bakehouse is made by hand with local, seasonal ingredients. Plus, the owner’s spouse made a heartfelt Reddit post promoting his wife’s business. Relationship goals.

📚 Concordia’s Financial Troubles: Concordia University Ann Arbor, a Lutheran university part of a national network of colleges (and locally famous for its iconic red and white barn), announced last week it was experiencing financial troubles and would be pursuing staff cuts and the sale of university property. Despite recent enrollment growth (up to 1,359 students for the ‘22-23 school year), a comprehensive February financial review revealed the need to cut costs to sustain operations. The university's Board of Regents is set to approve a strategic plan for moving forward by the end of the month.

💪 Valor Strength & Performance: A new, high-end gym is set to open in Ann Arbor next month. Valor Strength and Performance (573 State Circle) is a 22,500-square-foot facility offering state-of-the-art workout equipment, a basketball court, 50 yards of indoor turf, and an outdoor field. Blake Corum and a handful of other Michigan athletes have already stopped by for a workout.

🏈 2024 NFL Draft: We’re two months away from Detroit hosting the 2024 NFL Draft. With the Super Bowl behind us, expect to see a lot of NFL content appearing in the state and on your social media feeds in the coming weeks. For anyone interested in attending the draft, you can register for a free ticket here.

🎥 Michigan Marketing: To address the state’s need to attract and retain younger residents, Michigan is redirecting marketing dollars away from the iconic “Pure Michigan” campaign to a new “You Can In Michigan” campaign. While the state’s “Pure Michigan” campaign has been successful, it has largely positioned the state as a tourist destination while the new “You Can In Michigan” campaign is intended to show all the state offers from 9-5 work to 5-9 social activities. A 30-second “You Can In Michigan” ad.
