🎵 Media Business Switcheroo: Yesterday Your Media Exchange announced they would be taking over Digger’s Kerrytown location (410 N. Fourth) in September. Your Media Exchange (a sister company to Digger’s) closed their Main Street location just a few months ago and has been searching for a larger downtown space ever since. Digger’s will now be searching for a new location in the A2/Ypsi area. Digger’s will be launching a going out of business sale tomorrow.

The City of Ann Arbor

🚽 On The Throne: Last week, the city renewed its pilot program with Throne Labs, spending $540,000 to keep the high‑tech public restrooms downtown for another year. The portable units unlock via QR code, provide running water and are free to use. The city may renew the trial for up to five years before evaluating other providers.

🚿 Splash Pad Construction: Last week, the city announced construction has begun on Ann Arbor’s first universal‑access splash pad at Bicentennial Park, along with a new playground and solar‑powered restrooms. Park roads, parking lots and pathways will also be repaved. While the playground, restroom and pavilion will be closed, ball fields and basketball courts will remain open. Construction is expected to wrap up in December.

Michigan Athletics

🏈 International Opener: Dust off those maize and blue lederhosen, U of M is in early talks with Western Michigan about moving next year’s season opener football game to Germany. If approved, the game would be played at Frankfurt’s Deutsche Bank Park - a 55,000‑seat, retractable‑roof stadium.

Keurig Dr Pepper

🥤 Boston Cooler: Late addition to the Michigan summer bucket list - finding one of Vernors’ limited-edition Boston Coolers.

Vernors, the 160‑year‑old Detroit ginger ale brand, launched a limited-edition run of a new drink, the Boston Cooler. First popularized in the 1800s, the Boston Cooler was the nickname given to ice cream floats made with Vernors Ginger Ale. Hilariously, no one knows why its called the Boston Cooler, but frankly, that just adds to the lore. The drink will be available in select retailers throughout Michigan from now until the end of September.
